This Project was birthed in Pr Abel Guerreiro's heart since 2016 as an extension to the ministry already given to children in the area through the Creche, Aftercare and Sunday School. With the help of an amazing team around him it finally came to fruition in 2018. It has been a ground-breaking and onerous task but we thank God for His faithfulness and the added team He has brought into Arise and Shine College. Founding Members: Abel and Paula Guerreiro

Next up, our director. Dr Nicolas Marais has been involved in Christian education and training for over 15 years. He has served on my different educational boards both in South Africa and the USA and has a passion for education. He is currently serving as the director for both Arise and Shine College as well as for Arise and Shine Kids Centre, located at the Nova Vida Church in Regents Park , Johannesburg South. Dr Nicolas has headed two previous Christian schools in South Africa and has also had the privilege of heading up many Bible Colleges across Southern Africa. Dr Nicolas holds post graduate degrees in: counselling, Theology and Divinity, and currently serves on two university boards in the USA.

Teboho Mahlako serves as the Principal of Arise and Shine College and a key member of the School Management Team. With a deep passion for Christian education, he is committed to the growth and development of the college, focusing on equipping staff to instill Godly values in students. Teboho believes in nurturing children holistically—spirit, soul, and body—and dedicates his efforts to empowering both students and educators. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of South Africa and a Diploma in Theology with over 10 years of teaching experience. Teboho is married to Lucia, and together they have three sons.
